PENINSULA, OH (WOIO) - The Chief of Police in Peninsula has been suspended with pay pending an investigation.

The Summit County Sheriff's department is conducting the investigation into Chief Kevin McHugh.  Right now, sources are not saying what kind of investigation will be conducted.

Peninsula Council President, Doug Anderson, tells 19 Action News "it was something that came up and it's being investigated instead of swept under and we're doing the proper thing."

The Peninsula Police department has four full-time officers and seven part-time officers.  A sergeant will serve as the interim chief.
