Get Off Easy: Bay Village Man Gets Slap On the Wrist After Racially-Fueled Attack On Cabbie

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Probation for a Bay Village man who attacked a Cleveland cab driver over the summer.
29-year-old Ryan Soberay admitted to kicking the driver in the back of the head and grabbing him around the neck while spewing racial epithets.
As Soberay was choking him, the driver managed to pull over to the side of the road and get out of the cab. That's when Soberay jumped in the driver's seat and took off. When police recovered the cab, Soberay had swiped $530 from the safety box. He had faced a max of 17-years behind bars during Friday's sentencing.
