PLAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Canton Police are investigating a robbery and shooting at a Stark County hotel Friday.
Shots rang out at the Days in on Convenience Circle N.W. in Plain Township just before 5:30AM on Black Friday.
Chief Deputy Rick A. Perez reports that the suspect - described as a white male in his mid to late 30's, 5'10"- to 6' tall, thin build, unshaven, wearing a blue winter stocking cap and dirty brown (Carhart Type) coat - entered the Days Inn brandishing a black semi automatic pistol demanding money.
Hotel clerk Earl Cooper Jr. complied and gave the armed suspect the cash drawer money.
The suspect then demanded money from the safe but Cooper resisted and was shot in the left shoulder. The gunman fled following the shooting.
Cooper was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Plain Township Fire Department. His injury does not appear to he life threatening.
