CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland cop recovering in the hospital after her police cruiser was nailed by a suspected drunk driver.

It happened Christmas Eve night just off of Playhouse Square.

The driver slammed into Officer Dana Gulley's cruiser as she responded to a call with lights flashing and the siren wailing.

A witness said he heard the driver admit to knocking back a few drinks. He also described the terrifying accident scene.

"Cop was coming the opposite way with lights and sirens and as they went to cross East 17th, a truck came across and just t-boned him," said witness Ken Trabuck.

Gulley had to be cut from the cruiser. Amazingly, her injuries are not life-threatening.

The unidentified driver was cited for drunk driving.
