CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The sidewalks of Cleveland are filled with passion, perseverance and pink because the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure is in town!
It began Friday and continues through this afternoon. Cleveland residents are encouraged to visit designated sites to celebrate Komen 3-Day for the Cure participants' accomplishments. These individuals spend months training for the event's physical demands and fundraising at least $2,300 to fund life-saving research and community programs supporting education, screening and treatment. All of the participants' dedication and preparation culminates by walking 60 miles over the course of three days.
"Komen 3-Day for the Cure participants invest a lot of time and energy into their three-day, 60-mile journey," said Norm Bowling, project manager for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. "We often hear from participants how grateful they are for the community support they receive while on-event and what a difference it makes."
