Shannon O'Brien is among the newest members of the 19 Action News team, joining as a general assignment reporter on September 27, 2004. She comes to Cleveland from WHNS-TV, the Fox affiliate in Greenville, SC, where she was a reporter for the Ten O'clock News.
Before she got the itch to work in news, Shannon first worked in the broadcasting business behind the camera. After working at several radio stations in Kansas City and Chicago in advertising sales, she switched gears and went to work for HGTV, also based out of Chicago.
Born and raised in Kansas City, KS, Shannon is a Midwest girl at heart. But she ventured halfway across the U.S. to attend Marymount University in Arlington, VA. While there, she double majored in economics and political science and played NCAA soccer.
When Shannon's not busy working, she spends much of her time traveling and playing in the outdoors -- skiing, snowboarding and whitewater rafting. She also likes to workout, cook, volunteer for philanthropic organizations and spend time with family and friends. As for her favorite hobby though ... that would be singing!
