Cleveland, OH - Fire destroyed a Cleveland City Councilman's home early Monday morning.

Councilman Joe Cimperman was in the home with his wife, baby, and renters living below when neighbors banged on the door alerting them of the fire.

The Cimperman's lived on the second floor and they rented the first floor out.

Fire crews quickly put out the fire but returned again when smoke reappeared.

Cleveland Fire says the blaze started on the 2nd floor porch and has been ruled as arson because an accelerant was found at the location they believe was the source of the fire.

Councilman Cimperman, his family and those living on the first floor of the home made it out okay.

Concerned individuals may make cash contributions to assist the Cimperman Family. Checks should be made out to the Cimperman Family c/o Tremont West Development Corporation.
