Sharon Reed is an Emmy nominated anchor and strong reporter known for her crisp storytelling, many exclusives and engaging live reports. From breaking news, to politics, sports and of course, entertainment - she enjoys delivering it all!
On the night Lebron James made his stunning decision to leave Cleveland, Sharon also filled-in as the host of ‘The Mike Trivisonno Show' on WTAM 1100 radio. She interviewed Lebron's former teammate Eric Snow and broke exclusive news from the Miami Heat front office. She then placed a call to the home of former Browns Owner Art Modell - the one man who would know what "King James" might face from angry Clevelanders. Sharon's exclusive "live" interview with the man many Browns fans will never forgive lasted nearly 30 minutes, without commercial break. Other television stations and newspapers quickly reported the details.
Some of Sharon's other exclusives included reporting Browns receiver Braylon Edwards' surgery and hospitalization in 2005, which the team was later fined for not fully disclosing. She broke details of the confession of convicted murderer Bobby Cutts, Jr. - the police officer who killed his pregnant girlfriend. And Sharon taped the confession of convicted killer Eric Wilson in the death of 12-year-old Cookie Thomas when he called her while on the run to "clear his conscience."
Recently Sharon sat down with Joe Jackson on the eve of the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death. Mr. Jackson broke news again - ranging from a planned Jackson museum to addressing decades old "abuse" allegations that he beat his famous son.
Sharon began and popularized "The Buzz" segment seen nightly on 19 Action News, and today she can't go out without folks asking "Sharon, what's the "Buzz?" She also hosts "Take Back Our Streets" Town Hall Meetings that bring community leaders, activists, sports people and members of the community together to tackle tough issues. The one hour "live" broadcasts pre-empt prime time programming and have garnered critical acclaim.
Sharon has served as a sideline reporter for the Cleveland Cavaliers and during Browns Preseason games. She came to Cleveland from WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, where she had been anchoring their morning and 10AM newscasts. Prior to that, she was a reporter/anchor at WSVN-TV in Miami, a reporter for WMAR-TV in Baltimore and a correspondent for "American Journal" based out of New York City. Sharon is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a Master's Degree from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
