Guitar Hero: RTA Silences Musician's Right to Rock

Posted: Updated:

Cleveland, OH - A man is arrested for playing his guitar on the Rapid on Friday.

25-year-old Wesley Washington tells 19 Action News he was riding the train to go to Target when some fellow passengers asked him to play his guitar.

An RTA worker told Washington to stop playing at once and ordered him to put his guitar on the floor.

Washington obeyed the request to stop playing but didn't want to put his instrument on the floor without a case.

He got off at E. 55th and was promptly arrested by RTA Police.

Washington is charged with aggravated disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing. He's currently out on bond.

RTA released the following statement:

"There are criminal charges pending. RTA will not release any potential evidence that might be used, until the court issue has been resolved."
