Farewell: Five Cleveland Strangler Victims Laid to Rest Over The Weekend

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Funeral services were held for five more Cleveland Strangler victims this weekend.

Services for Tonia Carmichael, Crystal Dozier, LeShanda Long and Amelda Hunter were all held on Saturday, Nov. 21st. Tishana Culver will be laid to rest on Sunday, Nov. 22nd.

Tonia Carmichael, 52-years-old, was remembered during funeral services at Mt. Zion Church of Oakwood at 9 a.m. Carmichael was one of the victims found inside of Anthony Sowell's home.

Services for Crystal Dozier were held at 10 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at 3290 E.126th Street.

Funeral services were also held late Saturday morning for 25-year-old LeShanda Long. Last seen in August 2008, Long was not a reported missing person and only her skull was found in Sowell's basement. Long's funeral services were held at Christian Fellowship Center at 14713 Lakeshore Boulevard at 11a.m.

The fourth victim, Amelda Hunter of Cleveland, was last seen in April 2009 and was reported missing on Nov. 3rd after Cleveland Police found almost one dozen bodies in and around Anthony Sowell's home on Imperial Avenue. Hunter's funeral services were held at 9 a.m. at Word Church located at 18909 Miles Road.

Viewing for Cleveland Strangler victim Tishana Culver will also take place Saturday, up until 7PM at Gaines Funeral Home on Union.

Culver's funeral is slated for Sunday at 6PM at Southeast Seventh Day Adventist Church on Tarkington Avenue. Culver had not been reported as missing but she is survived by seven children.

In the past week, several other Cleveland Strangler victims were claimed by next of kin at the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office. Janice Webb, Kim Y. Smith, Michelle Mason and Nancy Cobbs were all laid to rest in the past two weeks.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office says they still have identified bodies, victims of the Cleveland Strangler who have not been claimed by their next of kin.

Six of the victims were found inside of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell's Imperial Avenue home, the other five bodies were found buried in Sowell's backyard.

All but one body has been identified by the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office.

Anthony Sowell was arrested and charged with aggravated murder, assault, kidnapping and rape.
