Old Billboard
New BillboardPosted by Web Staff - email | Facebook | Twitter
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - LeBron is undoubtedly Cleveland's King.
The NBA great's image looms over the city in a giant billboard at the corner of Ontario and Huron bearing the battle cry "We Are All Witnesses."
Now, Nike wants to shake things up with a new sign and a new slogan "Prepare For Combat." The new proposed look would feature a bare-chested LeBron and does away with any mention of the Cavaliers or Cleveland.
Some members of the Cleveland City Planning Commission are opposed to the new Nike sign and the lack of LeBron's current status as a Cavalier. Others on the committee felt the new slogan is not appropriate in a city riddled with crime.
"Prepare for combat for urban youth," said an committee member. "This is basketball, this is basketball he's a great athlete, great team I hope we go all the way....but it's a bit of a concern that you're doing that."
In the end, the commission decided not to decide and tackle the issue of a new LeBron billboard at another meeting.
So what do you think? Do you like the old LeBron sign, the new LeBron sign or do you not like the idea of a giant LeBron billboard at all? Sound off below!
