UPDATE: AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Sentencing today for the teenage punk accused of viciously beating a dog during a home invasion.

Last February, Melvin Prince and Lewis Napoleon broke into a home and savagely beat the elderly couple's 5-pound, eight-year-old Shih Tzu. They also threw the helpless family dog against a wall.

Sadly, the dog had to be put to sleep due to the extent of her injuries.

Melvin Prince has already pleaded guilty to a number of charges - including burglary and animal cruelty. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Napoleon's trial is scheduled for next month.
