WASHINGTON D.C. - The Washington D.C. Papa John's advertising cooperative today pledged $10,000 to the LeBron James Family Foundation in an effort to show they intended no ill-will or disrespect in circulating t-shirts at Game 6 of the Washington Wizards/Cleveland Cavaliers series last Friday.
This donation is in addition to the $10,000 pledged Sunday by Papa John's to the Cavaliers Youth Fund. In addition, this Thursday May 8, the 40 Papa John's restaurants in the Cleveland/Northeast Ohio area are offering a large one-topping carry-out pizza for only 23 cents in support of the Cavaliers, with all proceeds from the pizzas also benefitting the Cavaliers Youth Fund.
"While we are long-time sponsors of the Washington Wizards, there is no question that LeBron James is an excellent role model and great for the NBA," commented Colonel Bill Freitas, president of the Papa John's advertising cooperative in Washington, D.C. "We sincerely apologize to LeBron James and Cavaliers fans throughout the country and wish the Cavaliers luck during the rest of the playoffs."
