Editorial Response: Sen. Sherrod Brown

Posted: Updated:

(WOIO) - I'm Senator Sherrod Brown responding to Bill Applegate's editorial. When it comes to greenhouse gas, we must address climate change, but do it in a way that invests in Ohio manufacturing jobs.

A national manufacturing strategy is long overdue. In the 1980's, manufacturing made up twenty-five percent of our economy while financial services comprised about eleven percent.  but by 2009, manufacturing was just eleven percent of our economy.

We know how to make big things in Ohio. That's why I'm working to advance energy initiatives that promote American manufacturing, rather than jeopardize it.

After all, if regulations lead an Ohio manufacturer to shift operations to China, that won't help reduce greenhouse gas emissions or promote American job creation.

By fighting for energy laws that promote Ohio manufacturing, we can revitalize our nation's industrial heritage.
