Hearing: Cop named in deadly nightclub shooting to go before the chief

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
We've learned of new information surrounding a deadly police shooting by a Cleveland cop working off-duty.
Officer Walt Thomas will have a hearing with the chief Thursday. Thomas will be questioned about working off-duty without permission.
Last week he was working part-time at Libations night club. He confronted two men shooting at each other before he shot and killed Aron Jones. A preliminary review of the actual shooting shows 'that' was justifed.
However Thomas, A 21-year veteran, has been on extended leave from the force.
Cleveland Police provided the following background information on Thomas:
Appointed to Division of Police in June 19, 1990
2002 assigned to Narcotics Unit involved in a Use of Deadly Force incident ruled justified by the Prosecutor's Office
Resigned from the Division of Police on June 6, 2004
Returned to the Division of Police on October 9, 2006, and assigned to District 4
The officer involved is currently assigned to the Medical Unit on Extended Illness
