19 Action News Anchor

DENISE DUFALA

Denise Dufala entered the Cleveland television broadcasting picture in 1986, and became an instant favorite with area viewers. Her experience in reporting and anchoring, combined with her strong roots in Cleveland and her acknowledged position as one of this area's most trusted and well-liked personalities, makes her an obvious choice to anchor 19 Action News.

Denise grew up in North Olmsted and earned a B.A. in journalism from The Ohio State University.

Along with serving as the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news anchor at WJW-TV, she was the original morning anchor of "Newscenter 8 This Morning."

An Emmy Award-winning reporter, her experience includes such historic assignments as President Clinton's inauguration in Washington D.C., the Pope's visit to St. Louis and the Attack on America.

Her career began as a writer with the State of Ohio's successful "Heart Of It All" campaign. Early in her television career she worked at WSYX (formerly WTVN) in Columbus. Although most of Cleveland knows Dufala through the news, some know her as a dynamic board member who helps children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Her interests include antiques collecting, ice skating and singing. Indeed, her talent and passion for the latter finds her singing regularly in her church choir, as well as performing the National Anthem before Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavaliers and Crunch games. In what has become her trademark style, Denise continues to combine community-involvement projects with daily reporting and anchoring.

As a talented journalist and caring human being, she continues to make a positive difference in her hometown.
