BRIAN DUFFY

Native Clevelander Brian Duffy is thrilled to be doing what he loves in the city that he loves!

"It's a dream come true to be able to cover the teams that I grew up watching," he says.

Brian came to 19 Action News from WJET-TV, an ABC affiliate in Erie, Pa., where he was sports director for five years. Being in close proximity to Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh, Erie presented a unique situation for Brian, enabling him to cover Indians, Browns, Cavs, Pirates, Penguins, Bills and Sabres games live.

He won the Conus Communication top performance award in 1995, when he scored the nation's only live interview with Super Bowl XXIX MVP Steve Young. In addition to that, he was honored with five AP "Best Sportcast" awards.

Born in Euclid and reared in Mayfield Heights, Brian graduated from St. Joseph High School, where he earned several letters in football and basketball. He carried his enthusiasm for sports with him to college at Edinboro University, where he received a B.A. in Communication. In college, he earned three letters in basketball, and ultimately became team captain for the Edinboro Fighting Scots. The Fighting Scots advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament during his senior year.

Brian and his wife, Donna, have four children.
