For more than thirty years Cleveland television news, reporter Paul Orlousky has informed Northeast Ohio viewers of the latest in breaking news, investigative, and feature reports. Paul brought his award-winning expertise to 19 Action News in June of 1997. For more than a decade now 19 Action News viewers have enjoyed his confrontational approach aimed at getting to the truth. Paul says, "if we've got to ruffle a few feathers to get it, so be it.", adding "the questions we ask and observations we make are fair, not combative, but we expect answers."
Prior to joining 19 Action News, he established WKYC-TV's investigative team and put it on the map with hard hitting investigations, prompting Northern Ohio Live magazine to honor him as "the most effective investigative reporter" in Northern Ohio. The magazine presented him with it's Media Award of Achievement for his expose of Cleveland police truancy and false ticket-writing, because, "Paul proved the media can have direct impact on our quality of life."
His Cleveland television career began in 1981 as a general assignment reporter/anchor at WEWS-TV. In 1985, he joined WKYC-TV. Paul is the winner of many awards including several local Emmys, the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Award, the Ohio State Bar Association News Media Award and the Northern Ohio Live annual media award. He is active in several charitable fund raisers including the Cleveland Scholarship Foundation, The Cleveland Clinic, and Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate. His work with the American Lung Association Golf Tournament has helped raise more than 2 million dollars for the research of lung disease. In 2010 Paul and his wife Kim were named Co-chairs of the annual Catholic Charities Appeal. The goal is $10.5 million dollars. "It will be a challenge given the economy in Northeast Ohio, but because of the economy the need is greater than ever." "It is a challenge we look forward to."
"I work best when I am out on the streets," Paul says. "That's where the stories are. That's where I like to be."
Paul was born in Elmira, N.Y., and began his broadcasting career in radio there while still a high school student. A graduate of the State University of New York, his early television credits include stops in Binghamton, N.Y., and Youngstown, Ohio. He enjoys a 30 year marriage, and lives on the west side with his family.
