CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
The Secret Big Brother in your smart phone….
Recently Apple took a huge PR hit when it was discovered
iPhones were tracking and storing your GPS locations on the phone, and Apple
was able to see all of that data. When Steve Jobs tried to calm everyone down
he blurted out it was much less intrusive than what the Android system was
secretly tracking from its users. Hackers have been hard at work ever since
trying to prove Jobs' comment and it looks like they have. Millions of Android
phones were pre-loaded with a program called Carrier IQ. According to the
hackers this is soooo much worse than what Apple was doing. They've discovered
Carrier IQ is recording your keys stokes, what websites you check out, even
emails and texts you send. Then it's secretly sent back to its servers and
recorded. This is all in an attempt to see what people are doing, and how
they're doing it to develop better technology in the future. But people are
scared and irate.
Wondering if your phone is on the list, check out this
