American Lung Association, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo encourage people to get flu shot

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The American Lung Association is teaming up with the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo to remind Cleveland-area residents that it's not too late to get your flu shot!

Influenza activity does not peak until February in most years, so vaccination is still recommended and beneficial while viruses continue to circulate.

The Lung Association's Faces of Influenza campaign was at the zoo on Wednesday for "Grandparents Day" to let family members of all generations know that flu vaccination can be effective during the holiday season and beyond.

Crowds at shopping malls, parades and holiday parties all increase the risk for the spread of disease, especially influenza, and vaccination is the best way to help stay protected.
