Dog tossed from moving van in Avon

Posted: Updated:
AVON, OH (WOIO) -

A sickening case of animal abuse in Avon - a dog tossed out of a moving van on Route 611.

The dog - a pit bull named Tessa - was battered and bruised on the side of the roadway until a few Good Samaritans came to her rescue and rushed her to a local clinic.

"She came in here limping pretty bad," said Becky Ayers of Pet Rescue. "She had a severe laceration on her shoulder that required 8 to 10 stitches."

Ayers tells 19 Action News it was clear Tessa has been abused before. The pup has already had several surgeries to help her wounds.

Ayers says Tessa still needs another surgery on her torn ear. She hopes to find a foster home soon for the dog she describes as being gentle.

"I would like to find out who did this and who this dog actually belonged to it would be wonderful to have this person prosecuted," said Becky Ayers of Pet Rescue.

Anyone who would like to make a donation or adopt Tessa may contact Becky Ayers at 440-315-2856.
