Suspect identified in Elmwood Place shooting

ELMWOOD PLACE, OH (FOX19) -

Police chased down a shooting suspect overnight in Elmwood Place.

Officers say a man was shot in the chest in the 6500 block of Hasler Lane around 1 a.m. The victim ran to a home in the 6400 block of Elmwood Avenue for help.

The victim was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At around 3 a.m., officers were alerted to a section of Interstate 75 south near Paddock Road, where callers stated they had seen a man running along the tree line and carrying a handgun.

Police and K9 units tracked the man to Section Road and Summit Road, where they arrested him. The suspect was transported to UC hospital for minor injuries acquired during the extensive flight from the police and K9 apprehension.

He admitted to his involvement in the shooting and was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center after being released from the hospital.

The suspect, Terrance Charles, 27, is charged with Attempted Murder; Felonious Assault and Having Weapons while Under Disability. Police say he also had three open felony warrants for Felonious Assault; Aggravated Burglary and a Probation Violation.

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other.
