Horseshoe Casino interviewing applicants for jobs

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Interviews are underway this week to hire 700 people who will work at Horseshoe Casino Cleveland when the first-class entertainment destination opens this spring.

The invitation-only hiring event began Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena and will continue through Friday, February 3.  Horseshoe's recruiting team will meet with nearly 3,300 applicants to select the casino's future security, administration, guest services, cage, retail, and facilities personnel.  The casino has committed to hire at least 90% of its workforce from Northeast Ohio.

For most positions, selected candidates will receive job offers at the event; offers for supervisory positions will follow an additional round of interviews at a later date with the Horseshoe Cleveland leadership team.  A separate interview event for food and beverage position applicants is being planned for March.

"People in this community continue to astound us with their enthusiasm to work at Horseshoe Cleveland," said Karen Kaminski, the casino's vice president of Human Resources.  "Since recruiting efforts began last fall, we have received more than 36,000 applications for the casino's 1,600 new jobs."  Despite the response, Kaminski said she is still seeking applicants for positions in several areas including food and beverage, security and facilities.

Recruiting for table game dealers began in September 2011.  About 600 dealer candidates are currently attending the Horseshoe Cleveland Dealer Service Academy, a 12-week training program which began in early December.  Anticipating active table games and a popular World Series of Poker room after the casino opens, Horseshoe Cleveland is again accepting applications for an additional 100 experienced and non-experienced table game dealers and supervisors.  New dealer candidates will also attend the mandatory Horseshoe Dealer Service Academy and will supplement the dealer workforce after opening.
